Coach Andre Dwyer

Hi everyone, my name is Andre Dwyer.

I grew up in Jamaica, WI and attended Holmwood Technical High School, where I played all levels of cricket.

Before leaving high school, I represented my country at all levels of youth cricket (U15 cricket for two years), (U19 cricket for three years). After high school I attended GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sports where I attained a Teaching degree in physical education and Sports. I also earned Level 1 and Level 2 West Indies Coaching certification at the college. I also represented the college team in cricket.

In 2005-2015 my teaching and coaching journey began. By 2010-15, I was the Head of the Physical education department and head coach for the coaching program at the school. This is where I met Andre Russell as a soccer goalkeeper who made the transition to a cricketer. I have mentored him for 5 years.

Between 2007-2011, I represented my country in first class cricket and in 2009 I made the West Indies-A team traveling to Zimbabwe. In 2015, I made the transition to USA as a cricketer and as a full-time coach, whereby I have trained many youth players.

  • 2013-2015 National coach for Jamaica u15 team
  • 2015-2017 BPL Head coach (Chicago)
  • 2017-2023 TCL Coach (Morrisville)

I take pride in knowledge and experiences that I gain from playing and coaching. Both the mental and the physical aspect is very important to me and the fundamentals. I have played the game at various levels and coached at all youth level, so I have the experiences skills and quality to develop the kids at all age group.

Behind every fearless player is a fearless coach who refused to let his players be anything but the best they can be.

My Coaching Philosophy: Respect the opportunity that is given to you, go out there and do your very best to make worth doing.

My Coaching Motto: As a cricket coach, it’s our job to develop and inspire and help youth athletes with their skills, but coaching requires personal growth.

Never assume your players now, embrace the opportunity and no matter what it is, look at everything in a positive light. The greatest teacher is adversity. That wasn't just message for players. It was for me as a coach too.

My Coaching Values is to be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, build a shelter for a rainy day, pray for guidance, and give thanks for all your blessings.
